Infection Control
Excel Dent Clinic maintains a strict regimen of infection control. We are always available to discuss any aspect of our infection control regimen, and we encourage patients to ask questions.
We strictly follow procedures recommended by several European Union and Romanian health agencies.
Our infection control standards also comply with the U.S. Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommendations.
These hygienic measures include:
Disinfectant and antibacterial hand soap
Gloves (Latex Free) and face masks , single use only
Chemical disinfection of countertops and surfaces before and after each patient
Sterilization of all tools and equipment before every use
Sterilization of all dental hand pieces (drills)
Disposable materials, were indicated
Special protocols for surgery
An autoclave, a device that kills bacteria and viruses by steam, heat and pressure, is used to sterilize all instruments. All instruments are packed in single use covers and sterilized individually. The sterilization bags are maintained sealed and opened just before use in front of the patient. Markers for proper sterilization check on each bag provide data about each dental instrument.
We are curently using a last generation B-Class Autoclave, which destroys not only bacteria and viruses but prions, through a special designed sterilization program.
A prion is an infectious agent that is composed primarily of protein. The prion protein has been implicated in a number of diseases in a variety of mammals, including bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE, also known as "mad cow disease") in cattle and Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) in humans. All known prion diseases affect the structure of the brain or other neural tissue, and all are currently untreatable.
